Goth clothes 'prompted killing'


A 15-year-old boy kicked and stamped to death a woman because she was dressed as a Goth, a court heard.

The drunk teenager was among a gang of five who "savagely and mercilessly" attacked Sophie Lancaster, 20, and her boyfriend, Preston Crown Court heard.

Miss Lancaster was begging the gang to stop beating Robert Maltby, 21, when they turned on her in Stubbylee Park in Bacup, Lancashire, the jury was told.

glad the little bastards are going to jail at least... i heard about this when it first happened thru a community. sophie's friends were reposting her story all over the place since the news seemed to care so little.

it annoys me how little publicity it gets when a goth is murdered...but how MUCH there is when it's a 'goth' doing the killing.

They did not get life Brendan Harris will serve 18 years for Murder and Ryan Herbert will serve 16 years before being eligible for parole. Daniel Mallett will serve 4 years and his two brothers will serve 5 years. Now am I tripping the Black boys in Lousiana almost got life for beating up a white boy that got released from the hospial hours later and this girl died and white boys didnt even break a 20 year jail sentence. I wonder if they were black what the sentence would be for killing a white person.

And people ask me why I don't let my friends walk home alone at night when I hear about crap like this, I'm just glad I have martial arts training It won't protect you from someone with a gun, or even necessarily from someone with a knife, but it will protect you from idiot kids like this.

This is the first I've heard of this incident, but I really hope that the press from it makes at least a few people realize that goths are human too.

Wtf so its true what my High School principal said to me that the goth lifestyle does in fact perpetrate violence. It is sad that Because she chose to express herself in her own manner that the poor lost soul of a Human being had to Kill her. I can't imagine what would prompt him to kill her. But I suppose that it is the same reason violance could end all our lives.
