03:44 pm - DarkHart go buh-bye!!

Come out to Plague tonight, dammit!

I'm moving away and tonight is my little goodbye party. I will be spinning from 9-10, so get there early! Don't miss my set, because, unless I'm invited back up here to spin, or the Boston gothy-peeps let me play in their sandbox, I may not be spinning for a while!!

I will be playing some new tracks that you will almost assuredly hate! ;D

Come give me a hug goodbye, bitches!! Come hug me before I move to Boston to engage in acts of unspeakable evil! Come give me a hug before my soul turns completely black and I become anti-hug!!

11:24 pm - Flatline...

Flatline was fun. I spun lot's. Unfortunately, my DayQuil ran out about half way through my set, so I spent the rest of the night sitting around like a zombie. Which was, quite appropriate given the theme of the night. I had a fever before I went to the club and that hasn't let up much.

I'm going to bed at a sane time tonight (assuming I don't get distracted by shiny things...) and am if my fever doesn't let up, I'm going to call out sick to work.

Maybe.

12:20 am - FLATLINE!!!

HOLY FOOKIN' COW!! Flatline was AMAZING tonight!! O.O

We packed the North Star! It was wonderful to see so many people come out for the event! I spoke with a number of people who were "scouting" the night out for their group of friends, so hopefully we will see EVEN MORE out next time! I felt like I was going to cry I was so happy! :)

I forgot to write down my setlist. Nothing too out of the ordinary to discuss music wise. I spun some Puscifer just because I think the music is hilarious ("This lady got the thickness... can I get a witness?"). Tonight I once again proved that, if you need your dancefloor cleared, I am the DJ to call. Serves me right for breaking the momentum by drifting below the 140BPM line. :\

It was so much fun, but I felt so bad because I was so out of it. I didn't really get sleep the night before, had a rough, long day at work, and then rushed through getting ready (my make-up was not up to my standards) skipping supper in the process. By the time I got to the cafe my brain had detached a little and I spent a good chunk of the night in austic headspace.

[info]cheshiretomcat's little one won the costume contest in her adorable GIR outfit. I laugh because when I put the gift basket together, I sort of had someone slightly older in mind. Oh well, I'm sure in she will fit into those Halloween socks and stripey tights in a decade or two. XD

I'm really glad everything worked out. I really needed that uplift. :)

05:05 pm - PLAGUE REPORT (09/28)

In the pink...

Note: the following list might be incomplete... for a short time [info]znuh and I were bouncing around behind the decks and I may not have kept good records of my contribution...

Dj DarkHart Setlist - Plague (09/28)
AngelSpit - Wreak Havoc
...Thrill Kill Kult - Blue Buddha
Lords of Acid - Do What You Wanna Do
VNV Nation - Chrome
Project Pitchfork - Time Killer
Assemblage 23 - Let the Wind Erase Me
Velvet Acid Christ - Slut
Riot in Belgium - La Musique
Modulate - SkullFuck
Informatik - The World Belongs to Us
Daft Punk - Technologic
Wolfmother - Woman (Remix)
Nine Inch Nails - The Hand That Feeds (Remix)
Combichrist - Get Your Body Beat
Front Line Assembly - Psychosomatic

Last night was FABULOUS!!

Once I had taken a look at the DJ schedule and saw that I was spinning with [info]znuh I was simultaneously struck with excitement and nervousness. I'm a pretty amateur DJ as it is, but am rendered a complete incompetent when placed next to [info]znuh. I have a lot of respect for the guy. He's always positive and encouraging and always has a lot of advice for jockies just starting out.

Last night was weird. In the beginning I played a little of everything in hopes of finding something to get people to the floor. Finally, later in the night, I was actually able to get people out on the foor AND keep them there for a short while (thanks to a little coaching from [info]znuh) so that was pretty huge for my DJ ego.

I didn't do anything spectacular with my outfit, mostly due to a lack of time to get ready before heading out to the club. But, I did have fun with my make-up. The results of which I was most happy about. Normally I do a heavy black line above my eyes, but instead I shelved the eye liner and instead used some dark purple along my lashes and on the outside of my lids. This is on top of some EXTREMELY vibrant pink eye shadow I have. I did a similar effect on my lips by using two very bright purple and pink lipsticks. I started by putting the purple on my upper lip and the pink on my lover. Out of habit I squished my lips together, but this mistake resulted in a cool effect that I then built upon.

And because I've dropped a little weight, I was able to max out my corset again last night! (Though I loosened it a little before I got to the club)

05:58 pm - Last night...

I was hella-depressed last night. On the way to the club I was sobbing heavily. For a second I feared my make-up might run, and then I remembered it was old school goth night, so weepy smeared eye make-up might be entirely appropriate.

There is a lot of stresses in my life that are all tied together, and they seem to each feed into the other. One thing prevents me from curing another ill, which directly keeps another aspect of my life in the dumpster. It's this round-a-bout of frustration. There is no point of getting into details, needless to say I was feeling quite bad. (I'll likely save the gory details for the friends-only post).

Once I got to the club though, and got up behind the decks I began to feel much better. Also, many member of the gothy crew are far bigger and more important reasons to be down, frustrated, and anxious as of late... so this helped me put my own problems in proper perspective.

My set was kind of all over the place. I don't really do old school, and got my wife to suggest a number of songs. But it was fun and a challenge, so that was cool.

I FINALLY got to meet [info]cheshirebunny! Which was most delightful. Hopefully next time we speak I will be in a slightly clearer state of mind. :)

My sister-in-law, brother-in-law and a co-worker of mine all came out to Plague to hear me spin, so that was very cool. I think my co-worker could be a "goth convert." She doesn't get out much, but once she finally relaxes I think the gothy environment would suit her well! She avoids a lot of social interaction because people think she is weird and too big of a geek. And I'm like, "Yeah... you're in the right place here..." *puts on geeky-goth glasses* B)

Soooo... BLAH!

01:11 pm - Old Skooool...

Ahahahahahaaa... it's just occurring to me that this Friday, when I spin next, is old school night at Plague. So now I'm pawing through my music collection looking for anything that might be considered "old school."

Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five... that's old school... right?! >;)

I have 70+ remixes of various Depeche Mode songs.

Hrmmmm...

05:04 pm - PLAGUE REPORT (08/31)

Corporate goth...

Dj DarkHart Setlist - Plague (08/31)
**
Daft Punk - Technologic
Assemblage 23 - Skin
Informatik - The World Belongs to Us
...Thrill Kill Kult - Leathersex
Lords of Acid - Stripper
Ana Voog - Hollywood (remix)
Riot in Belgium - La Musique
Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus (remix)
Nine Inch Nails - Only (remix)
Combichrist - This Shit Will Fuck You Up

** (For the first ten minutes I was fucking around with loops I harvested from various tracks, including songs by Madonna, Bjork, Combichrist, Prodigy, C/A/T, Daft Punk, Traci Lords and more...)

I had a blast last night! I dressed in my best corporate goth attire.

I was soooo happy because my wife ([info]klemrev) came out with me to the club! She has promised to be out more. And I intend to hold her to that pledge! ;)

Stepping up to the decks had me a little on edge. It feels like it had been ages since I spun last. But, I think everything went well. I was pleased with my choices and my technical moves, and I received no complaints. :)

Unfortunately, we had to leave early, so I only caught the first part of Chasm's set, and missed ZNUH! entirely. Bad DJ etiquette, I know. Very sorry. No insult was intended! I generally like to stay nearby and listen to everyone else's sets. If for nothing else, then to take notes on awesome tracks and technical maneuvers

11:54 am - The DJs KlemHart...

On the way to the movies last night the subject of [info]klemrev's background with percussive instruments came up. This combined with her background in dance, has left her with an uncanny sense of rhythm. The idea was playfully thrown out that she should try her hand at DJ'in.

I thought it was an awesome idea and am now on a mission to get her behind the decks.

We could be a duo...

The DJs KlemHart!

Hell, these days we kind of look alike... we could be... conjoined twin DJs.
We could chain ourselves together.
(Like we don't already on a regular basis ;)

07:55 pm

The past couple weeks have gone by like a blurr... I'm going to attempt to sum it up as succinctly as possible, if I forgot something, please feel free to comment with further detail...

Plague's B-Day
First, Plague's Customer Appreciation night the evening before GFAK was absolutely smashing! The place was quite packed and a good time was definately had by all (as far as I could tell. It was a perfect beginning to a tremendous weekend of gothy goodness! People were quite dancy, and found a few people actually out on the floor during my set! I spun weird stuff, including a Britney Spears remix... remarking to [info]wallyfenderson (aka. DJ 8-bit) that, "It's ironic... I'm the only one with enough balls to play Britney Spears at a goth dance night..." :D

A spooky day in the park...

Goth Fly a Kite
GFAK was delightfully delicious! I was absolutly exhausted, not having slept the night before. But I meandered around the park watching all the pretty kites and doing my best to avoid camera (it was a no make-up kinda day). It was so much fun to see how mnay came out. The above picture does not demonstrate the entire crowd for the day. Some people came and left before and after the pic was taken. The turn out was huge, with many wonderful representatives from the lands to the south (namely, New Hampshire and Massachusetts). The sense of community was first rate! The spot where many congregated during a brief rain shower had to be vacated as we were "shoo-ed" away by a wedding party. It was most amusing!

BTW, if anyone has a higher res copy of this pic PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!

BOA FALLS!!

Goth Flay a Kite: AFTER PARTY
The after party was absolutely AMAZING!! I was soooo damn tired, I swear I almost didn't go, and when I finally arrived, I almost passed out. Obviously the intelligent thing to do (and by that, I mean the irresponsible thing to do) was to start dancing and not stop. By the end of the night my legs were like Jello, and killed me for days to come. The place was absolutely hopping and I was certainly not alone out on the dance floor.

I did a sorta, walk on... thing... for the gothic bellydance troupe, Bellibone. And was absolutely shocked when [info]dehuman8 called me to the stage to announce that there had been a collection going around that night to buy Disassemblance a full page ad in the Black Sun Festival" program guide. I was so happy and grateful that I nearly cried. Luckily, I was dehydrated from all the dancing, so not a tear was shed! :D

I got huge props for my "boa falls" and a few pseudo-jeers such as "How many Fraggles did you have to kill to make those!" (This particular comment courtesy of [info]wallyfenderson). Unfortunately, I couldn't harvest too much ego from the attention. All I did was basically take a bunch of feather boas I bought on clearance at an art store and tie them to my pigtails. :)

The view from the booth...

Kingdom of the Dead...

Vivid Motion Spring Show 2007
For the past week I've been helping out this spring's production from the local (fabulous) dance troupe Vivid Motion Inc. Typically, the Spring Show is a little more low key, as compared to their INSANELY popular Nutcracker Burlesque. But this year the production was far beyond what they have done in the past! It made for quite a show to squeeze the entire Odyssey into a 90-minute dance performance. Many people who are not familiar with the classic work remarked that they had trouble following the story, which is understandable. But, that aside, I remain quite impressed.

I attempted to get a pic from my absolutely favorite scene, Kingdom of the Dead but it didn't come out so wonderous. :\

This Christmas Vivid Motion has an all new show brewing, giving up the Nutcracker for a new kind of adult revelry. Not sure what it is... but I will very likely take part in it. (A chance to show off my new body perhaps?!)

Okies.... I think that is about it for now. I am still recovering from a killer couple weeks!! I got some more exciting things to blog about... but this entry must be complete! :)

03:48 pm - PLAGUE REPORT (05/4)

I look like a drag queen... :\

First off, this is not the best picture of me. I spun last night, so to be there early enough I had to rush home, get ready as fast as I could and then head back out to the city. I sort of just threw my make up on, and if I had time to think about it I would have toned down the "Drag Queen Factor." I also, for the first time attempted to outline my entire eye... I have mixed feelings about the result. I also majorly fucked up on my lip liner, making a curved mark on the left side of my face. Luckily I'm a master at making fuck-ups look intentional. I stepped back from the mirror and thought the mark looked like a fang... so I was like... "Fuck it!" and I just made a matching mark on the right. XD

And, yes, I am wearing the meat skewers in my hair again. This time, however, I only used two of them, and they were actually holding my hair up.

Plague last night was SOOOO much fun!! I do so enjoy the spinworks of [info]punketta (who totally recognized The Knife remix I played) and DJ Gabriell. The place was pretty hopping and, despite everyone talking about what a fucked up week it has been, everyone seemed to be in good spirits.

My set went alright. I mostly took the opportunity to play some new music I've happened upon since last time I spun. I've fallen in deep, deep love with Lords of Acid especially the song I Like It. I also threw in a remix of The Knife's We Share Our Mother's Health as I promised I would. Not sure if anyone took notice, but there was an ongoing theme of sex, BDSM and gender-fucking through out my set. >:D

OH! And check it out! [info]milkgonebad had the stickers made up that I designed!
I got huge props from people about the stickers -- some of the people tossing about compliments didn't even realize I was the one who made the logo. :)

I'm totally putting this on my car!! >:D

Fun had by all.
Good, good night. :)

07:02 pm - CURSES!!

I tried to install Traktor on this old, crappy laptop I have, but it doesn't seem to want to work. Any of you beloved computer geeks know where one such as myself might be able to get a somewhat decent laptop on the cheap? I'll gladly accept used! O.O

Traktor's Sys Req's:
Windows XP SP 2, Pentium III 1 GHz/ Athlon XP 1.4 GHz, 512 RAM

*puppy dog eyes*

I feel quite defeated... :(
