A couple of things I recently design'd...
Flyer for Black Sun...

New Gothic Maine sticker...
Come out to Plague tonight, dammit!
I'm moving away and tonight is my little goodbye party. I will be spinning from 9-10, so get there early! Don't miss my set, because, unless I'm invited back up here to spin, or the Boston gothy-peeps let me play in their sandbox, I may not be spinning for a while!!
I will be playing some new tracks that you will almost assuredly hate! ;D
Come give me a hug goodbye, bitches!! Come hug me before I move to Boston to engage in acts of unspeakable evil! Come give me a hug before my soul turns completely black and I become anti-hug!!

My apologies, I had DJ
dehuman8 listed as being on to spin for the next Flatline. When, in fact, it is DJ Gabriell.
I suck.
Updated flyer under cut!
( LOLZOMBIES ATTAX!! )

Last night was so much damn fun. I totally didn't even realize I was was on the schedule to spin until a call and a txt a few hours before. Further proof that my brain is not really functioning lately. But, I had a great time none-the-less. I haven't made it out in quite a while.
I was quite happy with my outfit/make-up, even if it was slightly rushed. I have been feeling so good about my body lately, that I opted for a rather revealing top. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of wearing a front closure bra... so a friend had a good amount of fun walking by and popping my bra off. :D
Despite the great music, sexy people, and scandalous ladies room wrestling, I would have to say the highlight of the night was being able to sit down a discuss art/technique with
mickey_murder. :)
The first two pics are self-portraits I did before heading out the door. The third is a candid shot at the club taken by
nocturnafae.

Last night was a lot of fun. Not as many came out for the Goth Prom as did for the Halloween bash. BUT, there were a lot of new faces, younger folk. It's always nice to meet the next generation of degenerates and perverts. ;) I was working on about 2 hours of sleep and 4 cups of coffee, so like the spaz I am, I forgot to write down my set list. I know people were asking about the tracks Noisuf-X Hit Me Hard and Faderhead Dirty Grrrls, Dirty Bois... so if a certain track caught your ear, it was likely one of those two. Like I said... I was really out of it. I sort of threw an outfit together. Including a suggestion by I had some pictures taken while at the club (by someone who actually knows photography in and out) so when those surface I will be sure to share them. |
Dis will be hella late. The funny thing is I actually have enough written for over a week of strips, it's just that I got busy putting together stuff (including my outfit) for the Goth Prom @ Flatline, tomorrow.
So if you are in Portland, Maine @ about 7pm Wednesday, January 30th.

My Goth Night - Breaking some stereotypes and finding - within the dark - lots of color and light.
An awesome article written about our local Goth night in one of local newspapers! I was pleased that the reporter seemed honestly interested in our subculture and wasn't condescending or otherwise offensive in her chronicling of "dark culture."
Here be my setlist from last Friday. I spun some new stuff (at least new to me) and I got a few people wanting to know what the deal was...

PLAGUE was 17 metric tons of awesome last night!! O.O The vibe was fantastic and the music was good (hats off to Rev. Benjamin Powers, 8-bit, and Chasm!) though the sounds slipped a little off the theme towards the end. But, I, not being a fan of so called old school, didn't mind that at all. I'm a sucker for someone throwing in a little Rage in the middle of a goth-ish set. I get a little tingle between my legs. Not only is there delicious contrast in the juxtaposition, RATM is one of my favorite bands of all time. Their song Freedom makes the Native in me want to kill the Whitey in me. Last night, people were just in a tremendous mood. Like life was good. Or maybe it was just me feeling good and coloring the perceived world around me in shades of awesome. But, I hope that wasn't just my delusion and everyone was indeed on The Up. I was rather bouncy. Bouncing off walls and into people. Tackling. Mock-humping. The works. The thing is, I've just felt so incredible lately. Besides all the usual frustrations, I felt in a state I hadn't felt in... well... to be quite honest I'm not sure I have ever felt this good. I'll ramble more about this in a "friend's only" post... This night, this event, is such an incredible thing for me. A haven of sorts. I don't mean to get all gushy on ya, but after a week of everyone looking at you like a freak (beyond just the gothiness...), feeling very awkward and alone, its nice to have a place to go to be an awkward freak with others. Sadly, the night seemed to go by so quickly. I did a little sketching, nothing fancy. If I can get my camera recharged before I finish this entry I will include a photo of the sketch. I really liked how I looked last night! I was totally rocking the fishnet! And I wore my corset, even though one of the bones is broken and is likely just rubbing around causing damage (to myself or the corset). :\ I thought my make-up turned out okay. I used three different color eyes shadows. A bright purple as the base across my entire lid, and above my lid til just a tick below my eyebrow. I then did a layer of deep red over the lid and a short line out towards my temples, outlined my lid in a dark plum color, and then did another quick brush of the red for more "POP!" I did my lips in two shades of purple, but the effect was not very dramatic. I also lined my eyes and lips with that black gel eye liner that I love to death. I can never do ANYTHING with my hair. It's a curly, wavy, frizzy mess. My hair in these photos is not made-up for old school night. THIS is actually what my hair normally looks like if I don't tame it with any sort of product. Lord knows I could never tease it... I'd never be able to get the kinks out! People always tell me what fantastic, beautiful, thick hair I have, but I think it's a pain in the ass. This is why I usually wear it up, or cover it in falls or something. :) These pics aren't the greatest. The last one I wasn't going to include. I like it because the composition is very different from what I typically do in those quick pre-club photo shoots. However, the angle blows, as it also shows off my ENORMOUS nose! Anyways... good times. :) ![]() Not much of a sketch, just my usual weirdo 'alternative anatomy' thing... |
HOLY FOOKIN' COW!! Flatline was AMAZING tonight!! O.O
We packed the North Star! It was wonderful to see so many people come out for the event! I spoke with a number of people who were "scouting" the night out for their group of friends, so hopefully we will see EVEN MORE out next time! I felt like I was going to cry I was so happy! :)
I forgot to write down my setlist. Nothing too out of the ordinary to discuss music wise. I spun some Puscifer just because I think the music is hilarious ("This lady got the thickness... can I get a witness?"). Tonight I once again proved that, if you need your dancefloor cleared, I am the DJ to call. Serves me right for breaking the momentum by drifting below the 140BPM line. :\
It was so much fun, but I felt so bad because I was so out of it. I didn't really get sleep the night before, had a rough, long day at work, and then rushed through getting ready (my make-up was not up to my standards) skipping supper in the process. By the time I got to the cafe my brain had detached a little and I spent a good chunk of the night in austic headspace.
cheshiretomcat's little one won the costume contest in her adorable GIR outfit. I laugh because when I put the gift basket together, I sort of had someone slightly older in mind. Oh well, I'm sure in she will fit into those Halloween socks and stripey tights in a decade or two. XD
I'm really glad everything worked out. I really needed that uplift. :)
EL principal sends 'Goths' home:
Three Edward Little High School students complained of unfair treatment Monday when they were sent home from school because they were wearing Gothic-style makeup...
It's no more distracting than kids who walk around with bright underwear and their pants halfway down their legs...
I would rather she be wearing makeup and dressing the way she wants than going out or doing drugs and getting into things I don't want her getting into...
This event kind of irritated me. Having been a little gothling at one time or another, I hated when people got all on my case about it -- assumed I was a Satanist and did drugs (my mother accused me of both when I started wearing all -- or mostly -- black in high school. In a bit of irony, the only time I've done drugs in my life is when I went through my College Preppy, phase -- ie, the only time in my life that I didn't dress "goth.")
Of course, when you are a teenager, dressing "goth" is a bit of a rebellious thing. There was a certain thrill with dressing in a manner that was not typically accepted, but that doesn't mean I thrived on the unnecessarily harsh reactions too it. Standing out from the norm, making people a little uncomfortable was good thing, but such a thing never warrants abusive, bigoted and violent reaction that can sometimes result.
I've always enjoyed dressing dark, but I never acted in a manner that truly matched my outward expression. I prefer to wear my black on the outside, not on the inside.
Their "gothic" make-up is just about as basic and stereotypical as you can get. But it's hardly offensive or distracting. As one kid indicates in the article, there is FAR more distracting stuff going on in high school. Do you think people are more often distracted by boy wearing eyeliner, or the chick with a whale tail peeking up over her uber-low-rise jeans.
A little eyeliner is not going to lead to the next Columbine. Let the kids have their stereotypically "goth" make-up.
I wish I could hand those kids a Flatline flyer... :\

Goth ball was uber fun tonight! O.O
I got their REALLY late, due to wardrobe malfunction. I ran out of glue to hold the syringes on and had to run into Walmart (with a bloody crotch) to obtain more. (Long story... to be told later).
I didn't really get any pictures, due to trying to rush out the door. People took plenty of me, so if anyone knows anyone who has got them, please let me know!
Everyone's costumes looked wonderful!
Some creepy guy outside of the club asked me to dominate him. But then he just grabbed my ass. :\
I was formally introduced to a fun little device called a Violet Wand. And I want one! O.O
I've learned that the shorter the skirt you wear, the chance that people will spank your ass increases exponentially. I will wear much shorter skirts from now on.
I will likely elaborate later...
But now I pass out!
I had such freakin' blast this evening. The Gothic Maine fashion show was incredible. Probably THE most fun event I've had the pleasure of attending for quite sometime. The works of all the designers were fabulous. The skeleton and demon bags forged by
chelley81 were absolutely adorable!! The performers who helped add a little extra spice to the event were most delightful.
It never ceases to amaze me how many talented people are part of the goth/industrial/freak/whatever subculture.
I had a fantastic show, a delicious drink, great conversation, and I even got my ass whipped a couple times. In Brynn's book, that all adds up to one fabulous evening! >;)
It was really tremendous to finally meet
morbidiqua and
jedi. Not to mention actually being able to sit down and have a sorta-kinda lengthy conversation with
cheshirebunny.
I actually wore the hair thingies I made last night. The things I was working on til late that exposed me to excessive inhalation levels of spray paint. I thought they were going to be absolutely crap, but once I got them secured in my hair (with about seven chopsticks and an old leather belt that I cut in half) they looked pretty damn good! People were quite pleased with the results.
I kick myself now, because all last night, and all day long I agonized how horrible I thought they turned out. So it was really uplifting to get such a positive response. It's a nice reminder that other people do not view my creations from the same harsh perfectionistic vantage point as I do. It reminds me that I am an idiot, and I probably shouldn't be so hard on myself.
People were totally fascinated by the tendrils. They kept touching them and asking what it was. Originally, I tried to cut up lengths of foam rubber, but after that failed, I went with some foam insulation, as suggested by
klemrev - since the insulation was already in the perfect tendril shape.
ALSO, I was really happy with my make-up. I got to try that gel eyeliner and I am in absolutely LOVE with it!! I used a small lip brush (pressed to a fine point) to apply the liner. It went on smooth and I could easily control it. AND it is VERY dark, so I didn't need to do a hundred layers of it. If you are interested, it is L'Oreal's HIP gel eyeliner, Color: black. Definitely worth the price.
And pictures!!! YAY!!
Here are some pics of me just looking hot...

Note: the following list might be incomplete... for a short time Dj DarkHart Setlist - Plague (09/28) AngelSpit - Wreak Havoc ...Thrill Kill Kult - Blue Buddha Lords of Acid - Do What You Wanna Do VNV Nation - Chrome Project Pitchfork - Time Killer Assemblage 23 - Let the Wind Erase Me Velvet Acid Christ - Slut Riot in Belgium - La Musique Modulate - SkullFuck Informatik - The World Belongs to Us Daft Punk - Technologic Wolfmother - Woman (Remix) Nine Inch Nails - The Hand That Feeds (Remix) Combichrist - Get Your Body Beat Front Line Assembly - Psychosomatic Last night was FABULOUS!! Once I had taken a look at the DJ schedule and saw that I was spinning with Last night was weird. In the beginning I played a little of everything in hopes of finding something to get people to the floor. Finally, later in the night, I was actually able to get people out on the foor AND keep them there for a short while (thanks to a little coaching from I didn't do anything spectacular with my outfit, mostly due to a lack of time to get ready before heading out to the club. But, I did have fun with my make-up. The results of which I was most happy about. Normally I do a heavy black line above my eyes, but instead I shelved the eye liner and instead used some dark purple along my lashes and on the outside of my lids. This is on top of some EXTREMELY vibrant pink eye shadow I have. I did a similar effect on my lips by using two very bright purple and pink lipsticks. I started by putting the purple on my upper lip and the pink on my lover. Out of habit I squished my lips together, but this mistake resulted in a cool effect that I then built upon. And because I've dropped a little weight, I was able to max out my corset again last night! (Though I loosened it a little before I got to the club) |
I was hella-depressed last night. On the way to the club I was sobbing heavily. For a second I feared my make-up might run, and then I remembered it was old school goth night, so weepy smeared eye make-up might be entirely appropriate.
There is a lot of stresses in my life that are all tied together, and they seem to each feed into the other. One thing prevents me from curing another ill, which directly keeps another aspect of my life in the dumpster. It's this round-a-bout of frustration. There is no point of getting into details, needless to say I was feeling quite bad. (I'll likely save the gory details for the friends-only post).
Once I got to the club though, and got up behind the decks I began to feel much better. Also, many member of the gothy crew are far bigger and more important reasons to be down, frustrated, and anxious as of late... so this helped me put my own problems in proper perspective.
My set was kind of all over the place. I don't really do old school, and got my wife to suggest a number of songs. But it was fun and a challenge, so that was cool.
I FINALLY got to meet
cheshirebunny! Which was most delightful. Hopefully next time we speak I will be in a slightly clearer state of mind. :)
My sister-in-law, brother-in-law and a co-worker of mine all came out to Plague to hear me spin, so that was very cool. I think my co-worker could be a "goth convert." She doesn't get out much, but once she finally relaxes I think the gothy environment would suit her well! She avoids a lot of social interaction because people think she is weird and too big of a geek. And I'm like, "Yeah... you're in the right place here..." *puts on geeky-goth glasses* B)
Soooo... BLAH!
Ahahahahahaaa... it's just occurring to me that this Friday, when I spin next, is old school night at Plague. So now I'm pawing through my music collection looking for anything that might be considered "old school."
Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five... that's old school... right?! >;)
I have 70+ remixes of various Depeche Mode songs.
Hrmmmm...
