08:48 pm - My life: entertainment...

My harrowing tale about the police officer losing my license (friend's only entry) on a dark and windy highway was retold in a recent episode of the podcast Trans-ponder. (Episode #40 to be specific). The noir-ish radio theater is performed by [info]genopunk and [info]jaynatopia.

The story is towards the end, but I highly recommend you listen to the whole podcast. These two are most entertaining and share a lot about their own experiences being transgendered. I always appreciate when transfolk are so upfront about who they are and are willing to share their thoughts and experiences.

02:02 am - Brynn PIX!!

Here are the pictures I promised from Friday night!

I think lighter colored eye shadows with very simple black eyeliner with flirty upswings on the corner of each eye, and maybe a little mascara, look best on me. As much as I pictured myself with heavy blackened, "smokey" eyes, I don't think it really looks good I me. I think I can do "cute" better than I sultry.

Also, my fringe in these pictures is at the length I think looks best with my face.

+4 )

I put soooo much product in my hair, and it is still frizzy. :\
My hair is not happy about the humidity.

The last picture is kind of stupid... but I was wearing the bolt braclet I made, so I wanted to pose with it. XD

My face has soften so much over these past 13 months. I really didn't realize it until I saw these photos. My chin-line especially has thinned out.

Very, very, very, very happy. :)

09:07 pm - Trans in The Phoenix..

After work today I met up with a writer from The Portland Phoenix about a potential article about transgenderism (specifically being trans in Portland).

She was very enthusiatic about the subject, and was very respectful in conducting the interview (previously to Portland, she lived for sometime in Jamaica Plains, Boston... nuff said). Technically, it was not a full interview, I just gave my abbreviated history and we brainstormed an angle for the story. I want to have an article that gets into some of the details of what transfolk go through, without necessarily turning it into a freakshow or "cry for me" tragic tale. Just real, everyday trans-life.

She is interested in speaking to more people, so if you are trans (or are close to someone who is) and live in or around Portland (or Maine in general, for that matter) you might want to consider being in touch. She ask me to explicitly say that any input will remain completely anonymous (if so desired).

[info]cheshiretomcat: I mentioned you to her (not by name, of course). Because if anyone can get her contact info into the hands of other transfolk, it would be you.

Pass the information on to others...

07:45 pm - Portland Co-op...

Today I ventured with my elven friend, Melian, into the desolate realms of downtown Portland to find this so-called "Place of Great Awesome" (aka The Portland Artist Co-op). I spoke with the founder and manager of the establishment and became immensely excited about what was taking place in that space.

The Portland Artist Co-op is a "public market" for local artists to display and sell their creations. Michelle, the lady to whom I had spoke, said she is looking for a place where artists of all mediums can come together under a single banner and cross-promote, without the bullshit attitudes and other such snobbery. This is EXACTLY what I am all about and I strive to find environments that are high on creativity and low on snobbery (because I think such elitist, suppressive foolishness is counter productive and really the antithesis of a pursuit that is supposedly about personal expression and freedom of thought). This underlying philosophy is exactly the reason I enjoy being around the scene surrounding Plague and the crew at Vivid Motion.

Being a (semi-)starving artist, I'm not entirely sure at this point whether or not I can truly afford to fund the renting of space at the Co-op. As it is right now, my finances are super tight. But I feel I need to at least give it a shot.

So it's limited fun and eating nothing but rice for the foreseeable future. O.o

I'm also approaching this from the trans-angle: Since my experiences being transgendered have affected my art in a major way, it seems only fitting to try and sell my art to help pay the medical bills. I will be volunteering this information, letting this intention be known, when I get around to displaying my work at the co-op. My thought is to have the header of the display bearing the name of one of my past works, something that sums it all up rather well: The TransForm

03:54 pm - Oh where oh where has my hair gone...?

Last night I was rubbing my face when it occured to me that something felt off.

I don't have hair on ym face anymore! O.O

I mean, if was still pretty prominant as of a couple days ago. I guess when I shaved it must have pulled out a huge amount of the little bastards!

Unfortunatley, my face still has lots of patchy blue-blackness, so another round of growth is likely on its way. :\
